Stephen "Bugsy" Hershel Robinson

Stephen Hershel “Bugsy” Robinson, 72, of Hazleton, IN, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Stephen was born on Monday, November 12, 1951, in Owensville, IN to Charles and Ivy Crabtree Robinson, both of whom have preceded. Stephen was a union carpenter working through the local carpenter’s union #224. In 1969, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving during the Vietnam era aboard the USS Independence, who’s home port was Portsmouth VA. Being discharged in 1973. He has continued his service in the local retired veteran’s military Honor Guard. He also used his carpentry skills to build flag cases for the families of those who had lost a beloved veteran. Stephen was a loving, giving man with a special place in his heart for his grandchildren.

Stephen is survived by his son, Ben Robinson of Hazleton, IN; his daughter, Andrea Durant (Robinson) of Winter Garden, FL; and his granddaughters, Cailee Robinson and Lily Durant.  Other survivors include his sisters, Sharon (Danny) Koeing of Evansville, IN; Dorothy (Carl) Webber of Princeton; and Janet Robbins of Somerville, IN.

He is preceded by his parents, brothers, Kenny, Tommy, Charlie, Jimmy and sister, Jackie Woods.

 Visitation for Stephen will be Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 12:00 noon until time of service at 2:00 PM at Maumee General Baptist Church, located at 9482 State Road 165, Owensville, IN 47665, with Laura Abner officiating. Internment will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery with the retired veteran group performing military honors.

It is the wish of the Robinson family that in remembrance of Stephen, please wear flannel shirts and blue jeans. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to either American Legion Post #51, sent by mail to the care of George Pickersgill at 225 N. Hart Street, Princeton, IN 47670, or to Wounded Warrior Project at P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
