Marylee Nora Sullivan, 92, of Hazleton, IN, passed on to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Marylee was born on Wednesday, September 14, 1932 in Pike County, IN to Dallas and Marie (Jerrell) English, both of whom precede.
On September 4, 1949, also in Pike County, she married Ansel Denver Sullivan, who precedes her in death. Marylee was a lifelong area resident and worked for Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN as a respiratory therapist, retiring after 20 years of service. She and Ansel attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Petersburg.
Marylee had many gifts and abilities and especially enjoyed helping children. She took great pleasure in helping her grandchildren in 4H. She was known for her cooking, quilting, needle point, crocheting, working puzzles, and loved singing in church. She sang in a trio for several years. Marylee was a determined lady, not afraid of hard work. She went back to high school to complete her senior year while in her 30’s.
Marylee is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Marie (Gene) Brenton, of Pike County, IN; son, Ansel Gene Sullivan, also of Pike County, IN; brother, Klenith James (Ruthie) English, of Pike County; and her grandchildren: Brandon, Kevin (Misty) Sullivan, Jennifer (Lamont) Maddox, Stephanie Brenton, Morgan (William) Rainey, Megan (Luke) Howard, and Amanda (Mark) Woodruff. Her survivors also include numerous great grandchildren.
Marylee is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 68 years, Ansel Denver; her son, Dallas Sullivan; two brothers, Edward and Jerrell English; and her sister, Kathleen Maxwell.
There will be a visitation on Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 10 a.m. Central Time until the time of her service at 1 p.m. at Doyle Funeral Home, 520 S. Main St, Princeton, IN, with Pastor Bobby Cox officiating. Internment will take place in Shiloh Cemetery in Hazleton.
