John Wayne Hayden, 75, of Princeton, passed away at home on Thursday, February 13, 2025. John was born on Monday, September 26, 1949, in Evansville, IN, to Leonard James and Eva Lou Corn Hayden, both of whom precede.
John is a 1967 graduate of Rex Mundy H.S. in Evansville, IN.
Following the Hayden family tradition, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy on November 21, 1967. He served aboard the U.S.S. James E. Kyes, a Gearing-class destroyer. For his service, John received The National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, The Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, and The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. John was proud of his military service.
John became a self-employed computer programmer who worked with several governmental agencies. He also enjoyed woodworking, refurbishing items to make them useful again, tinkering with electronics, and yardwork. He loved his canine companion, Jade.
John is survived by his wife, Lisa of Princeton, IN; three sons: Russell ( Tara) Hayden of Moorpark, CA, Seth (Becky) Hayden, also of Moorpark, CA, and Timothy (Jennifer) Hayden of Temple, TX; five sisters: Joyce Baumgart of Evansville, IN, Patty Solerno of Bel Air, MD, Elizabeth Joan (Joe) Hagan of Evansville, IN, Thelma Sitzman of Evansville, IN, and Martha (Melvin) Schmitt, also of Evansville, IN; and four grandchildren: Cadie Hayden, Ryan Hayden, T.J. Hayden, and Jacob Hayden.
In honor of John’s wishes, cremation will take place. No memorial services are planned at this time.
